In Memoriam Corneliu Baba (1906-1997)

The Art Museum in Cluj-Napoca, a public cultural institution that operates under the authority of the Cluj County Council, is hosting, between December 8, 2022 and January 8, 2023, the exhibiton entitled In Memoriam Corneliu Baba (1906-1997), an event marking its 25th anniversary since the death of the artist, one of the most outstanding personalities of Romanian artistic scene.
The exhibition includes over 70 paintings and graphics from the period 1934-1992, which have never been publicly exhibited in Cluj-Napoca. The works, of great significance for Corneliu Baba’s work, come from the collection of the Art Museum in Cluj-Napoca, the artist’s collection, but most of them come from an important private collection.
The present exhibition offers art lovers from Cluj-Napoca, for the first time, works representative of the master’s creation, which illustrate his well-known themes: still lifes, landscapes, portraits, self-portraits, harlequins, kings, Pieta, scares.
