Donations

Over the course of its existence, the museum’s collection has been enriched by donations from legal entities and private individuals, so that the number of artworks currently held in the museum’s collection exceeds 14,000 art objects. In the first decades of the museum’s operation, a significant number of works were purchased directly from contemporary artists; however, following legislative changes, this has become impossible. In the last thirty years, the museum has received donations from artists and relatives of deceased artists, who through their gesture wished to contribute to the growth of the museum’s collection and to the preservation of the memory of artistic creation within the collection of a museum in Cluj.

In recent years, the museum’s collection has been enriched with paintings, graphics, sculptures, and decorative art objects thanks to generous contributions from exhibiting artists. The organizers of the Tribuna Graphic exhibition rank among the most generous contributors to the growth of the contemporary graphic art collection, donating annually several dozen works displayed during the exhibition organized at the museum. A significant number of graphic works by Italian artists Gioancarlo Pozzi and Reno Giatti are currently part of the museum’s graphic art collection.

Among the works received as donations in recent years are creations by the artists: Ioan Sbârciu, Teodor Botiș, Vetró András, Alexandra Mureșan, Diana Oțet, Olimpia Bera, Anastasia Vdovkina, Szvetlana Tóth, Sever Săsărman, Árkossy István, Kudor Duka István, Alexandru Matei Agachi, Leontin and Sorina Țibacov, Palkó Ernő, Ștefan Orth István, Leila Mahat, Ditroi Thomas, Balázs Péter, Forró Antal, Hagop Sulahian, Lena Kelekian, Victor Hagea, Cela Maria Neamțu, Paulovics László, Chișu Ioan, Chișu Rodica, Mircea Vremir, Emeric Marcier, and others.
