The Art Museum of Cluj-Napoca, public cultural entity, operating under the authority of the Cluj County Council, in collaboration with the Harghita County Tradition Resource Center, invites you to the opening of the Zsigmond Aranka Personal Exhibition. The event will take place on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at 5 p.m. in the temporary exhibition rooms (1st floor) of the Art Museum of Cluj-Napoca.

”Zsigmond Aranka, born in Bățanii Mari (Covasna county), graduated from the High School of Arts in Târgu-Mureș, class of 1967, being the pupil of Piskolti Gábor, Nagy Pál and Bordy András. Between 1967 and 1973 she was a student at the Ion Andreescu Institute of Fine Arts in Cluj, studying textile art under the guidance of Szentimrei Judit, Bene József and Doina Hordovan. After finishing her studies she became a teacher at the Art School in Odorheiu Secuiesc, and since 1981 also at the Pedagogical High School. In 1985 he left the country and moved to Székesfehérvár, Hungary, where she continued both her artistic and pedagogical career. She made her debut in Hungary in 1986 at the Transdanubian Art Exhibition in Kaposvár with three paintings, later in 1992 she was also a founding member of the Székesfehérvár Society of Artists. Over the years her works have been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions. For 14 years she had been working in New York as a restorer of antique carpets, receiving professional recognition and appreciation. At the request of her students she returned to Székesfehérvár, but in 2019 she settled in her country of origin in Odorheiu Secuiesc, where she brought all her work, recognition and creative passion, working with the same diligence she has always done throughout her career.

Zsigmond Aranka does not follow or imitate any artistic trend, but interprets her messages from her own life experiences in several tehniques, genres and themes: from tapestry to oil painting, ink and pencil drawings, only a selection of her vast oeuvre is presented in the current exhibition, with the hope that this will be followed by future exhibitions throughout Transylvania.” (Lőrincz Ildikó)
