Untold Stories / Nieopowiedziane historie 

 

The Art Museum in Cluj-Napoca, a public cultural institution operating under the authority of the Cluj County Council, is hosting, from March 28 to April 14, 2024, the exhibition entitled “Untold Stories / Nieopowiedziane historie”, an event that marks the presence, for the first time, of artists, teachers at the same time, of the Department of Painting at the Academy of Art in Wrocław, with an exhibition, in the above mentioned museum. 

 

The opening will take place on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 6 PM, in the presence of some of the exhibiting artists and the initiator of the exhibition project, Gabriela Rostaș, PhD, the host institution being represented by Alexandra Sârbu, PhD candidate, commissioner of the exhibition. The event is a preview of the Romania-Poland Cultural Season 2024/2025 (when the two countries join forces to promote each other's culture, history and friendship) and is supported by the Polish Institute in Romania and the Honorary Consulate of Poland in Cluj-Napoca.

The preparation and implementation of the program of the bilateral cultural season is the responsibility of the Ministry of Culture and the Romanian Cultural Institute, through its representation Rumuński Instytut Kultury w Warszawie / Romanian Culture Institute Warsow, for the Romanian side, respectively the Ministery of Culture and National Heritage and the “Adam Mickiewicz” Institute, in partnership with the Polish Institute / Instytut Polski w Bukareszcie, for the Polish side. The public presentation of the Romania-Poland Cultural Season, which will take place between June 2024 and October 2025, was held on March 3, 2024, on the occasion of the “Romanian-Polish Solidarity Day”, a day established by acts adopted by the Parliaments of the two states.

The exhibition “Untold Stories / Nieopowiedziane historie” was designed by the curatorial duo consisting of the rector of the Art Academy in Wrocław, Professor Wojciech Pukocz, and the Dean of the Faculty of Painting, Professor Marta Borgosz. The exhibition is a living mirror of the artistic interests of the current teaching staff of the Faculty of Painting within the ASP Wrocław, to which the works of some of the most eminent teachers, former mentors of the current generation of artist-teachers, are added.
