Puppet Museum – 20th Edition

June 25, 2026 - July 12, 2026

The Art Museum of Cluj-Napoca and the “Puck” Puppet Theatre, public cultural institutions operating under the authority of the Cluj County Council, invite the public to visit, between 25 June and 12 July 2026, the Puppet Museum exhibition.

Twenty years after its first edition, Puppet Museum exhibition brings before the public puppets and stage sets from landmark productions of the 2025–2026 season of the “Puck” Puppet Theatre in Cluj-Napoca.

The characters that came to life this season in productions such as Three Enchanted Gifts, The Jungle Book, Cipi, the Giant Dwarf (Csipike), and The Wonderful Deeds of Kőrösi Csoma Sándor (Kőrösi Csoma Sándor csodálatos cselekedetei), staged by the artists and collaborators of the “Puck” Puppet Theatre, will be on display as part of Puppet Museum exhibition from 25 June to 12 July.

The event is organized in partnership with the Art Museum of Cluj-Napoca, which will host the exhibition in the temporary exhibition halls located on the ground floor of its building at 30 Unirii Square.

A section of the exhibition is dedicated to director Cristian Pepino, a major figure in Romanian puppet and marionette theatre, who recently passed away. In his memory, puppets and stage sets from the productions he most recently directed at the “Puck” Puppet Theatre—Three Enchanted Gifts and The Jungle Book, his final creations—will be exhibited.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to admire characters and scenographic elements from the most recent premieres and revivals presented by the Hungarian Section of the theatre. Both productions are based on works by Hungarian authors from Romania: Cipi, the Giant Dwarf (Csipike) and The Wonderful Deeds of Kőrösi Csoma Sándor (Kőrösi Csoma Sándor csodálatos cselekedetei), both directed by Ibolya Varga.

The Puppet Museum is a long-standing tradition of the “Puck” Puppet Theatre. At the beginning of every summer holiday, children, together with their parents and grandparents, are invited to discover the puppets that have “performed” on the stage of the Cluj theatre during the season that has just come to an end.
