The exhibition presents a representative selection of 70 works from the former fine art collection of KÁNTOR Lajos (1937-2017), literary historian, writer and art critic from Cluj-Napoca. In addition to his work in the field of literary history, KÁNTOR Lajos was a prominent figure in the promotion of Hungarian art in Transylvania, as editor of Korunk magazine and founder of Korunk Gallery (1973). The Sapientia Foundation acquired in 2019 a significant number (134) of works of art (paintings, graphic works, sculptures, ceramic works and textiles) from the KÁNTOR collection, and placed them in the care of the Transylvanian Art Center based in Sfântu Gheorghe.

In 2021, the Transylvanian Art Center organized a comprehensive exhibition of the Kántor collection in Sfântu Gheorghe, and this year will present, as part of the Hungarian Cultural Days in Cluj, a selection of this important collection from the point of view of cultural and literary history from Transylvania.
