The Art Museum of Cluj-Napoca, a public institution of county interest operating under the authority of the Cluj County Council, invites you to visit, between October 23 and November 2, 2025, the group exhibition Ritual (painting, photography, installation, object). The opening will take place on Friday, October 24, at 5:00 p.m., in the presence of the artists involved in the project: Cristian Codrea, Florin Gherasim, Greti Adrienne Papiu, Adrian Prykop, and Mihail Sârb. Curator: Florin Gherasim, museum curator, anthropologist, visual artist.
Cristian Codrea holds a PhD in Visual Arts and a degree in Painting. He is a member of UAP, Baia Mare branch, where he also resides. His activity is divided between his studio practice and his work as a teacher in the pre-university educational system. Florin Gherasim is a museum curator, visual artist, and anthropologist, member of UAP, Cluj branch. Greti Adrienne Papiu is a visual artist and university lecturer, member of UAP, Baia Mare branch. She teaches at the Department of Fine Arts – Painting, Baia Mare, within the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca.
Adrian Prykop is a visual artist and university lecturer, member of UAP, Timișoara branch, teaching at the Department of Fine Arts – Painting, Baia Mare.
Mihail Sârb holds a master’s degree in Painting from Baia Mare, is a member of UAP, Timișoara branch, and works as an independent visual artist.
The exhibition project Ritual aims to bring before the public, through the means of visual arts, the theme of initiation. The artists involved in the project responded to the curatorial challenge each in their own way, addressing the theme through memory, burning, and sacrifice. As a result, the visual discourse is composite, combining elements of painting, photography, installation, and object. The first presentation of the project took place in Baia Mare earlier this autumn, in a non-conventional space. Its second staging, in Cluj-Napoca, unfolds in a consecrated setting – the Art Museum, within the emblematic Bánffy Palace. (Florin Gherasim)
