Juhos Sándor & Szabó András exhibition. New narratives
The Art Museum of Cluj-Napoca, public institution which operates under the authority of the Cluj County Council, invites the public to visit, between August 13-27, 2023, the "New Narratives" exhibition.
The exhibition of the artists Juhos Sándor and Szabó András presents the results of a 20-year experiment, which inserts us into the imaginary and parallel reality of the two artists, where new and old elements, real and fictional, are the basis of their artistic expression. These compositions are timeless, in which the two artists reinterpret reality through a metamodern lens. Their primary inspiration is found objects and materials, which are deposes of their old functions, and through the two's visual experiments they take on a whole new meaning.
The exhibited works collect small fragments of the mosaic, which come together in the stories of human existence, then the artists break them down into their basic elements and endow them with new systems of signs and narratives. This metaphysical space is revealed in front of us through the images created by the two artists independently, but still in sync.
The exhibited worlds are positioned in a specific perspective from reality: distant enough to suggest absurd ideas, but not so far removed from realistic perspectives. The significance of this perfect focal length can only be understood through your own eyes as a personal experience. The works of András and Sándor cannot be the subject of a perfect narrative, but are the subject of an invitation to personal discovery of this Apollonian perspective in their works. (Bába István)
