The Vrâncean Collection – The Traveling Gallery
The Art Museum of Cluj-Napoca, a public institution of county interest operating under the authority of the Cluj County Council, invites you to visit the exhibition “The Vrâncean Collection – The Traveling Gallery”, from 25 February to 15 March 2026. The opening will take place on 25 February 2026. Opening words by Professor Ioan Sbârciu, PhD, the exhibition curator, and Nicolae Ioan Vrâncean, art collector.
The works, selected from the collection of Nicolae Ioan Vrâncean, offer the general public an opportunity to engage with a number of visual artists who have shaped the Romanian art scene from the second half of the 20th century to the beginning of the 21st century. Nicolae Ioan Vrâncean, a lawyer by profession and an art collector, aims through this exhibition to facilitate public interaction not only with the works in his collection, but also with the activities undertaken in support of promoting art and artists.
This exhibition is part of a series of cultural initiatives launched and supported by Nicolae Ioan Vrâncean nearly three decades ago. These include annual art symposia (held in the commune of Hărman, Brașov County), as well as the publication of a specialized magazine (Vectro AVV). Over the years, the Vrâncean Collection has been presented to the public through traveling exhibitions in Bucharest, Deva, Timișoara, Sibiu (Brukenthal Museum), Râmnicu Vâlcea, Târgu Mureș, Botoșani, Mogoșoaia, and other cities.
