The German Cultural Center in Cluj-Napoca, marking the beginning of the jubilee year, invites you to discover the internationally recognized exhibition “100 Beste Plakate 22” [The 100 Best Posters 22] which brings to the fore the most innovative and eloquent elements of poster design from Germany, Austria and Switzerland from the year 2022. The “100 Beste Plakate” competition is an important supporter and promoter of graphic design in the German-speaking world, involving numerous established designers, students, art academies, agencies, clients and individual projects. The exhibition resulting from the competition travels around the world every year. After traveling to South Korea, Switzerland, Germany, the Republic of Moldova, Slovenia, the exhibition “100 Beste Plakate 22” arrives in Cluj. It will be presented at the headquarters of the Art Museum, between March 7th and March 24th, 2024. The opening will take place on March 7th from 06:00 PM.

The “100 Beste Plakate” competition is one of the oldest design competitions in Europe, operating in various formats since 1966, when the first prizes were awarded for the best posters. In 2002, the first German-Austrian-Swiss selection appeared under the name “100 Beste Plakate 01”. The project has had so far more than 20 editions. The annual exhibitions offer a fascinating insight into contemporary poster culture and promote the different approaches and styles of participating artists and designers. From political messages to cultural events and product design, the award-winning posters cover a wide range of topics.

The exhibition is organized in Cluj-Napoca by the German Cultural Center, in partnership with the Association 100 beste Plakate e.V. and the Art Museum in Cluj-Napoca, with the support of Goethe-Institut in Bucharest, Geothe-Zentrum in Chișinău and Cartopack.
