ÁRKOSSY ISTVÁN: THE ALIEN PLANET. Painting and Graphic Art Exhibition
The Art Museum of Cluj-Napoca, a county-level public institution operating under the authority of the Cluj County Council, will host the painting and graphic art exhibition The Alien Planet featuring works by visual artists Árkossy István, on view from April 3 until April 26, 2026.
At the official opening, which will take place on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 5:00 PM, remarks will be delivered by Lucian Nastasă-Kovács, Professor and Manager of the Cluj-Napoca Art Museum, as well as by Grezsa Csaba, Consul General of Hungary at Cluj-Napoca Consulate, and Portik Blénessy Ágota, the curator of the exhibition.
Árkossy István’s exhibition titled The Alien Planet is a visual imprint of humanity’s universal search for a home in a world fundamentally perceived as foreign. In his latest series, the artist does not invite the viewer on a historical journey unfolding in time, as he did with his 2020 series also presented at the Bánffy Palace. This time, he promises a journey through spatial—even cosmic—dimensions; yet rather than traversing geographical distances, he explores ontological ones: making visible and visually perceptible the tensions between the familiarity and the strangeness of existence. The visitor moves through the exhibition much like the stations of a Way of the Cross, pausing at each stop in turn. (Portik Blénessy Ágota)
