HERMINA CSATA. Mindscape. Inner Sanctuary

Opening: Wednesday, 28 October 2026, 6:00 PM
October 28, 2026 - November 08, 2026

The Cluj-Napoca Art Museum, a cultural institution operating under the authority of the Cluj County Council, presents Mindscape. Inner Sanctuary, a solo exhibition by artist Hermina Csata, on view from 28 October to 8 November 2026.

Hermina Csata graduated from the Ion Andreescu Academy of Visual Arts (now the University of Art and Design Cluj-Napoca) in 1991. For more than three decades (1991–2025), she taught at the Romulus Ladea High School of Visual Arts. She currently serves as President of the Cluj-Napoca Branch of the Union of Visual Artists of Romania. Her artistic practice has consistently evolved around two complementary thematic worlds: the contemplative search for origins explored in "Paradise Lost" and the dynamic, expansive energy of "Fluxus Mirabilis". Over the course of a distinguished career, recognised through numerous national and international awards, Hermina Csata's works have been featured in solo exhibitions, curated group exhibitions, and institutional art collections in Romania and abroad.

The artist's exhibition record includes 23 solo exhibitions and more than 80 participations in national and international exhibitions. Her contribution to the visual arts has earned recognition from both audiences and the artistic community, as reflected in prestigious distinctions such as the Textile Arts Award at the National Art Salon in Reșița (1998), the Creativity Award at the National Drawing Salon in Arad (1999), the Textile Arts Award of the Union of Visual Artists of Romania (2001), and, most recently, the Jury Prize at the International Small Graphic Art Biennial in Iași (2025).

Hosted by the Cluj-Napoca Art Museum, Hermina Csata's solo exhibition invites visitors on a fluid, initiatory journey through her graphic universe, conceived as a visual cartography of the inner human landscape. Structured around the generative tension between origin and manifestation, the exhibition brings together two defining series — "In Search of Paradise Lost" and "Fluxus Mirabilis" — giving rise to a third conceptual space imbued with profound spiritual resonance: the mind as a portable sanctuary.
