European Festival "Night of Museums", 22nd Edition
The Art Museum of Cluj-Napoca (MACN), a public cultural institution operating under the authority of the Cluj County Council, invites the public to a new edition of the European Festival "Night of Museums" on Saturday, May 23, 2026, between 18:00 and 24:00 (last entry: 23:30). Admission is free.
Located in the sumptuous Bánffy Palace (Unirii Square no. 30), the museum offers a dense program that brings together six distinct exhibition spaces, providing visitors with a complete cultural experience, from masterpieces of national art to contemporary installations.
Visitors who cross the threshold of the Museum of Art on the night of May 23, 2026, will have the opportunity to follow a complex cultural itinerary that harmoniously combines the past and the present. The experience begins in the National Gallery, where the permanent exhibition offers a fundamental perspective on the evolution of Romanian art. The dialogue with European tradition is continued through the exhibition "Archetypes of Beauty", a rigorous selection from the museum's heritage that explores classical aesthetic canons.
In addition to these historical landmarks, contemporary art takes center stage through the pictorial universe of Flaviu Săsăran, whose exhibition, "Geographies of Silence", invites profound visual introspection. Local artistic memory is honored through the retrospective dedicated to Sabin Nemeș, a project that brings back into the spotlight the compositional strength of this prominent artist.
Modern perspectives are extended through the collaboration with IAGA Contemporary Art within the exhibition "Beyond What Is Seen", where artists Marcello Grassi, Nicola Vinci, and Ștefan Bădulescu propose an exploration of the invisible layers of reality. The evening is completed by an incursion into the symbolic universe of textiles through the exhibition "Canvases, Rustles and Whispers", created by the Arta Acului la Cluj Association, an initiative that celebrates the "Transylvanian Shirt" and traditional craftsmanship as a form of living art.
